There is a vast range of beautiful, exotic firearms around the world. History can add vast amounts of value to a gun. Different collectors will pay vast sums of money for high-end historical guns. The most expensive guns ever sold at auction are as follows: 

                       

Teddy Roosevelt's Shotgun 

Starting the list at a hefty price of $862,500, Teddy Roosevelt's Shotgun. He used this shotgun in Africa for game hunting. Hunting was one of Roosevelt's favourite past times. He was a statesman, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. The 12-gauge double was custom-built for Roosevelt. On the right barrel, there is an inscription by A.H Fox Gun Company. 

                       

Colt Patterson Revolver 

$977,500 is the Colt Patterson Revolver. The first repeating pistol that Samuel Colt patented in 1836. This high-end piece shaped history, being the first-ever of its technology. Samuel Colt got a patent for a mechanism that enabled a gun to be fired more than once without having to complete the process of reloading. Colt founded a company to manufacture his revolving cylinder pistol. Sadly the business failed due to the depleting amount of sales. 

                       

Gold-Inlaid Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver 

The Gold-Inlaid Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver sold at auction for $1.1 million. This version of the gun was made to be easier to carry. The revolver's design greatly impacted the evolution of firearms. The price point also comes from its golden inlays within the gun. 

                       

Simon Bolivar's Flintlock Pistols 

Simon Bolivar's Flintlock Pistols were sold at auction for $1,687,500. This massive sale is the third-largest paid amount for any firearm in the world. Simón Bolívar was a soldier who played a central role in the Southern American independence movement. Bolívar was the president of Gran Colombia. The firearms were made by Nicolas-Noël Boutet, the gunsmith to Napoleon. 

                       

George Washington's Saddle Pistols 

George Washington's Saddle Pistols were the highest auctioned firearm in the world. They sold for an astonishing $1,986,000. These pistols were owned by the first president of America and were used within the revolutionary war. The pistols were created by Hawkins, one of the best gunmakers of the period. The Gun that Killed President Lincoln 

Finally, the 6-inch derringer used to kill president lincoln is viewed as priceless. This firearm will never be put up for auction due to it being displayed at ford's theatre national historic site. On April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth went into the presidential box at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. He fired a shot at Abraham Lincoln, hitting him in the head. This shot mortally wounded him. Today this small firearm is considered the most expensive in the world.
